"...because life is not a destination."
Do you choose to have the life you live?
A hard question with hard answers
18 Sep, 2008 |Lori Smythe

Are you where you are in life because of the choices you’ve made through out your journey? Some believe so. While it is easy, and sometimes undeniably true, to point to circumstances that have caused certain things in our life to be the way they are, there are some who still insist that no matter what happens in our life, something inside of us created this reality.

Take, for example, the story of Joan. Obviously this is not her real name. Joan is unhappy. Her job is stressing her out. Her friendships are unsatisfying and she feels ignored. She is single and for the life of her, can’t seem to meet a nice man. She has become angry, bitter, and frustrated that those people and that job simply aren’t living up to her expectations. Could it be that Joan has created his bleak life herself? Joan could choose to change jobs, but it would be hard. She could make new friends and perhaps meet a nice guy, but she would have to put out some effort. Her negativity, in fact, could be what is keeping them away. Joan is where she is right now because of her choices.

The Benefits of Raw Milk

The Real Reasons Why Raw Milk is Becoming More Popular
By Dr. Joseph Mercola
    with Rachael Droege

I was happy to see a published story that documents how some families have become aware of the health benefits of raw milk and are switching to it, despite the warnings of public health officials who are ignorant about the serious damage that pasteurization does to the quality of the milk.

Less than 1 percent of the milk consumed in America is raw, which is most unfortunate as raw milk is a highly health-promoting food. Public health officials warn that raw milk poses the risk of transmitting bacteria such as listeria, E. coli and salmonella,
but pasteurizing the milk kills these bacteria while extending the milk's shelf life, which also happens to be more profitable for the dairy industry... MORE

Is Raw Milk Safe for Babies?
by the Weston A. Price Foundation

The biggest concern parents have about making homemade formula is that it is based on raw milk which, according to medical orthodoxy, is a source of contamination and disease. The only possible way to protect our children, they say, is to be sure the milk is pasteurized.

The chart below was drawn up for a Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors vote on permitting raw milk in the County. (The vote was favorable, by the way, and raw milk is once again available in Los Angeles.) Except for a brief hiatus in 1990, raw milk has always been for sale commercially in California, usually in health food stores, although I can remember a period when it was even sold in grocery stores. What's in Raw Milk?

Just what is in raw milk? Think of it is as an oil/water emulsion. It's also known in some circles as a colloidal suspension.

To make every gallon of milk, a cow must pump from 600-800 gallons of blood through her udder. Think of that next time you pour yourself a glass. That cow poured her heart into it!

21 Pounds in 21 Days: Revolutionizing Modern Medicine As We Know It

On October 11, 2008, I had the privilege and pleasure of interviewing Dr. Roni DeLuz, RN, ND who is the author of 21 Pounds in 21 Days http://mvdietdetox.com/ and owner of Martha’s Vineyard Holistic Retreat. While Dr. Roni’s story begins with a very personal battle to save her own life, it continues as she now helps people around the globe restore health and vitality to their lives with weight loss being the preferred byproduct of her detox program. My fascination with detoxifying the body started with my own visits with Dr. Alim Muhammad, MD (Abundant Life Clinic, Washington, D.C.) who is trained in both allopathic and naturopathic medicines. His treatment and advice gave me the courage to try detoxification and nutritional supplementation to cure some severe health ailments and lose weight. (Dr. Alim told me that detoxing was part of my treatment plan after first eliminating food allergens and taking nutritional supplements--which I did.) Both programs worked and I now have a better understanding of eating (to live) properly and how to enable my body to heal itself. Never having met Dr. Roni face-to-face, I was thrilled to secure the telephone interview. I must say, on that call you could feel her energy and excitement and all over again, I was inspired to improve my health.

Dr. Roni DeLuz is a graduate of Fairfield University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, The Clayton School of Natural Healing, and the American Holistic College of Nutrition. Dr. Roni is a registered nurse and colonic therapist who has been a healing professional for 20years. She is a member of the Coalition for Natural Health, the American Naturopathic Medical Association, and the International Association for Colon Therapy. In 1980, Dr. Roni founded Singh Care Homes in California, which provides long term care facilities for children and adults.

She continues to act as its Executive Director. In 1997, she founded and opened the Martha's Vineyard Holistic Retreat http://mvholisticretreat.com/. By 2007, the success of her on-site retreat led Dr. Roni (along with publicist and partner James Hester) to write 21 Pounds in 21 Days: The Martha’s Vineyard Diet Detox. A former client-turned-success story, Mr. Hester has worked with Dr. Roni at the retreat since 2003...
